Blazing the Trail – how CPActive is transforming NSW Public Sector Employment for People with Disabilities
A teal banner, with the CPActive logo and “made possible by Cerebral Palsy Alliance.” The event, which is to bring awareness to the NSW Government Graduate Program, is hosted by Aman Gopalani, a CPActive Steering Committee Member.
People with disabilities are often an overlooked cohort, left behind when it comes to opportunities in the professional sector. Our opportunities shouldn’t be by chance – they should be equal to those around us.
I conducted a disability-tailored internship at NSW Government in 2023 and loved it, catalysing much of the later professional experiences that I’ve had! However, it was only by chance that I stumbled upon the posting. There was limited marketing of the Government’s disability inclusive professional opportunities, and without this awareness I could’ve missed out on this chance.
Whilst working on CPActive’s Blaze the Trail campaign, I have had the chance to meet with the NSW Public Service Commissioner, Kathrina Lo, highlighting the importance of people with disabilities as a key stakeholder group when marketing their Graduate Program. The NSW Government needs to speak people with disabilities directly to ensure they are getting the information they need and are truly making their program accessible. We don’t want to be left behind any longer.
That’s why I am excited to invite you to join CPActive as we partner with the NSW Public Service Commission to deliver the 2025 NSW Government Graduate Program information session, tailored for applicants with disabilities. The session will be via Zoom on Tuesday 6th August from 12:30-1:30pm, and you can register from the link below!

This event will help people understand how the program and works and outline the steps to ensure your adjustments are understood in the application process, enabling you to bring your best self forward for your application. You will hear from current NSW Government graduates about their experiences in the program and get insights on working in the public sector from members of the NSW Public Service Leadership.
If you are a graduate with a disability interested in working in the public service, this event is your chance to find out more and start your career with the NSW Government in 2025!
The 2025 NSW Government Graduate Program is open to applications now and closes on Wednesday the 14th August. See the NSW Government website for more details and apply today.
Not a graduate but know someone who is? Please share this invite and make sure all graduates with disability get the chance to learn about inclusive pathways to employment with the NSW Public Service at this CPActive event.
