Where to from here after the government’s response to the DRC?
On July 31st, the Federal Government responded to the Disability Royal Commission.
To the say the response was a let-down is an understatement, as many of us felt deeply disappointed in the response. It absolutely “failed to respond to the scale of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability.”
After a four-and-a-half year process, which took an immense toll on people with disability, their families and their supporters, the Government only fully accepted 13 of the 222 recommendations. Honestly, WTF?!
Join us for our next Open Dialogue on August 27 and we debrief on the outcome of the Disability Royal Commission and as a community, find a way to move forward and continue fighting for the progress and change we know is desperately needed.
