Rules of Engagement

Our Open Dialogues are a safe, inclusive place for us to come together as a community and talk about the things that matter to us.

We want to create a space where people feel comfortable to have important conversations. Sometimes these conversations might be difficult. But we want people to share their experiences and ideas even though it might be tough. We also want to have some fun along the way!

That’s why we have a few simple rules to make sure everyone who comes along to a Dialogue event feels safe, welcome and included.

When you attend an Open Dialogue, or any event held by the Disability Dialogue, you agree to:

  • Make sure everyone feels welcome.
  • Make sure everyone feels comfortable to comment, and share their experiences and ideas.
  • Keep your comments respectful and inclusive. It’s ok to disagree or have a different point of view. But please respect the ideas and experiences of others. There is no room for personal attacks at our events.
  • Keep comments relevant to the topic of the event or the discussion.
  • Respect difference. Offensive comments about things such as race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, appearance, diagnosis or identity will not be tolerated.

If you do not follow the rules, or if we feel that participants are unsafe or at risk, you will be asked to leave. We do not like having to do this but it is important to us that everyone feels welcome and safe.

Thank you very much for your support to make the Disability Dialogue a safe, inclusive and fun place to engage!
